Building AI Capability
From the Inside Out
Cerdik Labs was founded in Penang to help Malaysian organisations navigate artificial intelligence — not as a trend to follow, but as a set of practical tools worth understanding deeply.
Back to HomeCerdik Labs
Cerdik Labs grew out of a simple observation: most Malaysian organisations knew they needed to engage with artificial intelligence, but had no clear path to doing so responsibly or productively. The consultants and trainers who advised on AI were often disconnected from the realities of running a business in this region — the language mix, the regulatory context, the pace of operations.
We set up in George Town, Penang, because it sits at a productive crossroads of heritage and industry — a city that understands what it means to combine the traditional with the forward-looking. That balance describes how we approach AI work: grounded in what actually exists in your organisation, not in theoretical ideals.
Since our founding, we've worked with teams in retail, financial services, hospitality, and professional services — designing personalisation systems, running executive education programs, and building feedback intelligence tools that generate real operational insight.
Our Mission
To help Malaysian organisations adopt AI with clarity and confidence — building capability from within rather than depending on external black boxes they can't interrogate or maintain.

Our Core Team
A small group of specialists who've spent years working at the intersection of data, systems design, and organisational change.
Nadia Rashid
Co-Founder & Principal Consultant
Nadia leads client engagements in personalisation and data architecture. Prior to Cerdik Labs, she built recommendation systems for two of Malaysia's largest e-commerce platforms.
Azhari Sulaiman
Head of Executive Programs
Azhari designs and facilitates the executive training curriculum. He spent a decade in corporate learning and development before specialising in AI literacy for senior leadership.
Priya Letchumanan
Data Systems Engineer
Priya handles the technical implementation of feedback intelligence systems and ensures all pipelines meet our privacy and performance standards before handover.
Standards & Protocols
PDPA Alignment
Every system we build is reviewed against Malaysia's Personal Data Protection Act. Consent handling, data retention, and access controls are built in from the design phase — not bolted on afterwards.
Scope Discipline
We document the agreed scope before any work begins and track changes formally. Clients should know exactly what they're receiving and when — without discovering items were out of scope after the fact.
Confidentiality Standards
Client data, strategies, and internal documents are handled under non-disclosure agreements as a default. We do not use client information to train external AI models or share insights with third parties.
Version-Controlled Delivery
All technical deliverables are managed with version control so clients can track changes, roll back where needed, and hand off to their own technical teams at any point.
Knowledge Transfer Protocol
Every engagement includes a structured handover. We document how things work, run walkthroughs with your team, and make sure internal ownership is clearly established before we step back.
Responsible AI Principles
We follow established frameworks for responsible AI use — transparency in how models make decisions, fairness auditing where applicable, and honest communication when a proposed approach carries risks.
AI Integration in the Malaysian Business Context
Malaysia's business environment sits at a genuinely interesting moment. Digital infrastructure has expanded significantly, consumer data is increasingly available, and leadership teams are asking real questions about where AI fits into operations. At the same time, the skills gap is real — most organisations have more data than analytical capacity, and more ambition than implementation experience.
Cerdik Labs operates at that intersection. We work with digital teams who want to deliver personalised experiences at scale, with leadership groups who need to understand what artificial intelligence actually means for their industry, and with operations functions that are sitting on feedback data they've never had the tools to interrogate meaningfully.
Our approach is direct and collaborative. We don't position AI as something that requires months of theoretical preparation before any practical work begins. We start with what your organisation already has, clarify what a useful outcome looks like, and build towards it — checking in frequently and adjusting as we learn. George Town has been our home since the beginning, and it shapes the way we work: deliberate, detailed, and always aware of the human layer beneath the technology.
